An outstanding outing by Snowboy and company. Plenty of serious mambo and descargas and lotsa raw heat. From the opening number, this recording percolates with primal sensuality. This Snowboy and the Latin Section release is like being on a musical freight train at full speed ahead. They play thru intense mambos, mazacotes, rumba, descargas, latin-jazz, guaguanco, cha cha cha's, mozambique, percussion solos, powerful trombone and sax exchanges as if there was no tomorrow and that is exactly what mambo and descargas was and is all about anyway. They have taken the musical influences of Machito, Palmieri, Tjader, Puente, Noro Morales, etc. and have put together one hell of an album. It all comes at you with devotion and intensity, rhythms furious...the beat relentless...driving...pushing... syncopating melodies melding into each other...focused heat flowing white hot...your pulse quickens, becoming the music. The music moves you powerfully from within. Brief sensual interludes seem to appear out of nowhere but only long enough for one to catch a breath or two before the music intensifies...the passion grips you once again. Raw, sensual and primal, you can't help but to move your ass to this... and then just like that......you are released...as if to bask in the afterglow after an intense lovemaking session.
