Tito Rodriguez, a smooth, vermouth voiced, ballad crooner... immaculate dresser and a ferocious Latin-Jazzer. This guy could do it all. In his short career he became a top headliner as a lead singer during the mambo, cha-cha-cha and charanga period, as an (very successful) orchestra leader he had top-billing, his shows (marquee battles with Tito Puente are legend) were always soldout, he became the top album seller as a romantic song singer, had a hit television program in Puerto Rico and started a successful record (TR Records) company. His impeccable style, an eye for a beautiful music make him one of the true trendsetters to this day. Gilberto Santa Rosa, a monster artist himself, patterns much of his stage persona and style after TR. This album is a small sampling of TR's enormous musical output but it's a great start....Tito had serious swing, even when he sang it smooth and slow. One of the best -- Tito Rodriguez.
