Tanga encompasses all that's strong and rhythmic and powerful in life and Latin music; it drives with a heated intensity and a danceable furor, then it magically pulls back into a cool, steady sensual groove the next. It's a superbly crafted, vivid big band recording, earthy, raw and yet elegant. Primal and sophisticated. I have been listening to this recording for almost 8 years and am still discovering new elements amongst this musical landscape known as, "The Tanga Suite". Mario Bauza put together a masterpiece of an album here and it shines like gold. One of the best Latin-Jazz recordings ever by one of the true masters; Mario Bauza.
